I AM BACK !!!!!! It has been awhile since I started updating my blog..so sorry guys..wanted to alienate myself from the rest of the world..for awhile..so it has been a week or so since my FYP presentation which is conincidentally..the mark of the end of my 4 years as a uni undergrad. Initially was delighted but recently got another bad news...so..WHATEVER K !!! My FAC. can KISS MY ASS !!! So life moves on from here....so what am i going to do from nw? seriously...I wanna quit planning for awhile...at least for the next 2 months....just slack ....enjoy.....

Some updates:
1. Not going for the summer exchange in Europe (Some reasons)
2. However still planning for a Europe trip
3. Going for Lasik (On specs for this whole month)
4. Need to remove my wisdom teeth ( I think about 3? Ouch)
5. Watching season 4 of 24 hours ( DAMN GOOD SHOW)
6. Watching Heroes
7. Waiting for Prison Break next season

yah so some updates....went to his office on thursday at 5pm and as expected..got a tongue lashing....." you did not follow my instruction to get someone to read before passing it to me..".." ...Sec2 english..." !!!!....basically he was pissed that he had to correct a lot of stuff which wasted his precious time.....this is the first time that someone had degraded my standard of english..hey!!!! sorry that i did not graduate 1st class from Cambridge man..i mean..as i went through..his corrections..it was more like paraphrasing....maybe i should emigrate to UK and consume more English Tea to improve my standard exponentially to Queen's English...URGH...cannot take it....anyway...this is not all..i had to meet him the very next day at the airport as he was leaving to get back some part of my report ( actually just the appendices) before leaving he commented .." based on what i have read...your report is just marginal....." Marginal? marginal what? D,C,B ??? oh man..this is so frustrating...i mean..what the hell...so..i still have the other half of the report which he has yet to read and most prob it will be round 2 for me.....

Ok here is the verdict : The reason I am affected by it is because his grading has some sort of conviction for me of my standard ( irony that I always preached not to let other ppl's standard judge you) and secondly, since I put in so much effort in it..I have a certain level of expectation and once I know I am slipping away from it. ...it kinds of frustrates me.

Conclusion : I think I keep focusing on the end product without focusing on the process..which is again something that I always say.."focus on the cause, the consequence will take care of itself.." Hence the cause in this case would be the process.....and well in this case the process comes with this gruelling experience....

Objectively speaking, he is a brilliant prof. to work under if you want to improve yourself by leaps and bounds. However the process is tiring, irritating, demoralizing, stressful, sickening, painstaking, frustrating and the list goes on. He is able to stretch you till you break new boundaries....

So this is my plan....make whatever changes I need to make to my report amidst all the "hoohaa" at the background....taking it all in my stride and just hope for the best rather than focusing on the end product ( grade and meeting his standard). Meanwhile, just catch up with the rest of my modules for the coming exams........Most importantly..do my honest best.....

Just received a tongue lashing from my prof regards with my FYP....he sent an email..wanting to see me today but too bad i checked late....contents were " YOUR REPORT IS TERRIBLY WRITTEN.....blah blah..."....i see already also sianz...then immediately called his office...wau zan...kanna left right up n down...and i mean SCOLD..not reprimand..it is SCOLD !!!......my self esteem went from pluto to zero...I mean....i put in damn so much effort...as REALLI damn so much effort in it...and the feedback is like.."...it is just trash..." urgh..sianz.....anyway i should expected it since he is known infamously for his super super strict style.... I mean..i think he is the dying species in my home uni that actually is so strict...maybe my work is really trash....haiz...at this point of time...doubts abt my ability starts to surface.....on the hindsight I know it is good for me to go through this.....but at this point of time when my exams are like two more weeks?!?!??! how much can i change to my report......from high hopes to dashing hopes....well..back to reality ....im jus "normal" afterall...and the irony is my nickname during IRC..( sec sch days) was "normal" ...who on the right frame of mind would choose such a spas. name!!!!.....trying to pull myself up and move forward..wadever it is ...things just have to be done either his way or the highway.....suppose to see him this thursday to get back my report...i think.....ill be roasted thoroughly man......got to be mentally prepared....got to have the positive attitude...got to be focus...got to keep reminding myself...this is for my own good.....

FYP n exams are coming....PANIC button ON !!!! anyway....just one update...i got REJECTED by...British American Tobacco..!!!! ..did nt get pass their ability test...oh wadever...hey it is their lost man !!!! so all my frens out there finding jobs...PRESS ON and don't give up !!!! just have to keep on focusing on my work....anyway....one major update...

Take a look at my bubble above!!!!! anyway.....pretty much MIA for like a week or so.....have been busy actually rushing a project in office....and the final product is the bubble above which I singly handedly built it!! That is just one of the it..I made 3 of it in totally !!!!!! Just to give a rough idea...what we do is...fumigate whatever stuff is in the boxes ( old documents or stuff which needs to be preserve).. the old method of fumigation is using chemicals...what we do is...pump in nitrogen gas and leave it for a few weeks...by then..all the microorganisms would had dead due to lack of O2.......trust me..this is NO EASY FEAT !!!

Pretty much done my best for my fluids quiz later ....... totally wack out now.....i can only hope and pray for the best later ..... wish me luck...

Anyway...my application for the coming GSS (global summer studies) was not successful...however another door is opened......a summer study which jac recommended to me...pretty neat stuff...it is like...apply to Manchester business school for the upcoming summer programme..... you get to travel to london, spain, prague and czech throughout the programme !!! pretty cool eh...check out the link below...

ok that aside....I am kind of like disturbed recently between "do what you enjoy" and being lured by money..i guess now is the time where your peers are constantly job hunting and the popular phrases like" oh so n so has gotten this job which pays 3k plus or 4k plus..." ( I know of someone who is paid 4k plus a month at entry level...not mentioning names) ....first thing in our mind..envy? jealous? down in our confidence? ..... I feel the hardest thing especially when I am entering the job force is..stucking to my fundamental principles and remaining focus...I know it is hard do so especially if the package of some jobs can be so lucrative ( not that i had any of such offers..damn..haha)..that we are lured by the monetary terms rather than what we believe or enjoy doing. I was wondering...if someone is already attracted to something due to its money at such a early stage...what will his future ? It is like a foundation built on soft sand....he will be forever chasing and making his decision base on monetary terms rather than job satisfaction...one word...SHALLOW....The biggest challenge when i enter society is not what job i can get..not how much i earn...or when can I retire...the biggest challenge is to stick to my fundamental beliefs and not swayed by such shallow mindset......

I must keep on focusing and NEVER make a decision base on money.......NEVER....cause i do not want to be a slave to it.......

Remarks: It is not for the faint hearted !!! The food is NICE !!! They have a wide range of BBQ stuff and most importantly..wagyu beef !!!! Firstly..must give credits to Eugene for introducing this place to me. Apart from the charcoal...i think the unique part is the way they season the food....very tasty !!! However..I don't think it is suitable for people who don't like fatty food...but i think most guys will LOVE it !!! The only drawback is the beef tongue...very thick and chewy..did not enjoy it at all....overall...the rest was great !!!!

Two updates for the food I tried so far this week. One is from a mexican cum pub..called blue iguana located at riverside point and the other is "bei fang chun cai" restaurant.

I am not really a fan of mexican food..so seriously no comments...oh oh.,..i love the chips though...the tortilla !!!! ....

For the Bei Fang...located along mosque St....i think it is too expensive and quality of food really is bad...average price per dish is like 8 bucks...maybe i am biase as I keep comparing with those I tried in Beijing but..any oh how.....not worth....but i am waiting to try another beijing restaurant located along Joo chiat..passed by before and it is always crowded...will check it out some day...

So fast time passes....first I was so anticipating my birthday and now ..*poof* gone in a jiffy.....I think for guys 25 years old is still young..right? haha.... anyway starting to panic as my dateline for my fyp 1st draft draws nearer.....I was caution to start another experiment if my fyp report has not meet my prof's expectations.....sianz...but on the hindsight...at least he bothers about my project......got to perserve on....got a 2nd interview with ST Aero this week...I wonder what questions they are going to ask....well..we will see how it goes..I just hope they don't ask me to draw again.....

Celebrated my deary's birthday at The Chang korean charcoal BBQ at tanglin village. It is located at dempsey road and opened recently last year november. From my knowledge, Singapore has only 3 charcoal bbq restaurants..the one at yvess building, another one at east coast park there ( haven try that yet ) and this The Chang....This would rate better than the one at Yvess building and also as expected the price too...around 4o bucks per pax would put a diner in a pretty good 90% full stomach capacity.

Anyway after that...we headed to wine network at dempsey for wine....not a bad place to chill out..wanted to try The Wine Company..but I don't ill blend in with the crowd with the attire I was in...but the place look pretty nice ...

This week going to to be a hell of a eating week...look forward to more food updates !!!

Some pics which I took over the weekend. Basically went to Tian Tian Huo Guo.....well my verdict is if you really wanna try it? get a table upstairs.....it makes a LOT of difference. After dinner went off to Liang Seah for desert but the famous one is SO packed..so we decided to try the Hong Kong Cafe which sucks....after which went down to St James for a virgin tour of it and at the same time met up with more friends....the moment I was in one of the clubs with the pounding music...DAMN !!! I was vibed up man !!! haha....i think ...the last time I was in such a place when was I in San Frans at The Cellar.....must control...control...control.... So basically we went round different clubs to check it out before ending the night at Geylang tao hui for supper...phew..did not had such a chiong night for a Very Very Long time......

School has started !!!! HAPPY F&^*%&! New Year !!!!! I have made a new year resolution to attend all lectures for this coming last semester !!! and guess what I went for lectures on the first day of school which is the first in my freaking 4 years of life !!! I am so darn proud of such an achievement. :p Anyway took like a 1 week slacking attitude before the term start to recharge my battery for Ill go crazy coz I know once school starts...Bang !!! Full throttle ahead !!!

Meanwhile went for an interview last week at ST Aerospace...and guess what..I had to draw 3 views of a fitting in 3rd angle...bloody hell I freaking tabao my graphic drawings in year 1 lar and they test me on this...sianz man...anyway I think there are 2 rounds to it and more or less..goner already...on the same day I received another email rejection letter from Deustche Bank....but at least it all happen in year 2006..haha....interviews and job applications can really be a humbling experience man.....but anyhow..life goes on......

I have this freaking problem which is once i slack for awhile...I have this HUGE inertia to begin doing things again....laziness just kicks in and refuses to leave. However once i start doing stuff again...I totally have not time for other things...totally focus...which is kinda of bad i realised.....I need to seek a balance....

This year is going to be a challenging year....tough decisions that have to made ... another phrase of life awaits me....whatever it is....this month is a very important month becoz it is MY BIRTHDAY

Christmas has come and gone....a new year is fast approaching and as one grow older...i tend to indulge into deeper thoughts. As I was celebrating this year's Christmas, i was recollecting how i spent my previous Christmas like 5-6 years ago....I could remember when i was hardly even 18, I would rushed off straight after my mum's birthday dinner ( 24th dec by the way) to meet my buddies at boat quay ( booz was easier to get there...but yet not get caught..hehe) and ppl like tks would keep calling and say " eh where you..faster leh !!!" The adrenalin of "clubbing" and drinking alcohol illegally while soaking in the festive celebration was pretty " cool" and hip" at that time.

My perspective of celebration has changed along the years. Spending time with my family and has become my utmost importance and true happiness which I can really derive from. This is not to be mistaken that previously I do not cherish my family but things are just different from last time. I not really know how to explain it but anyway i guess you can't really explain a intangible feeling.

However I am blessed that the same group of friends whom I have grown up "dawning" over christmas or new year's eve is the same group of friends whom I still hang out with now. A sense of guilt came over me when I realised that I forgot to wish Ryan on his birthday ( hey a personal belated wish is better than nothing) However I managed to contact him during christmas and had a short but enjoyable conversation, updating him about the ongoings in Singapore. It is a kind of conversation which you rather have then going clubbing or some pathetic social function. It is about experiencing the simplest things of life.

As I reach the age of 25 ( 25 leh !!! wau piang.....jialat...5 more years 30 already...ME !!! K.E.O !!!!!!! freak man I still feel 18...haha) and stepping out to the corporate world FINALLY, I hope that I do not turn out with to be a pathetic and shallow person, suffering from society syndrome. Society syndrome would be defined as someone whom is constantly suffering from the changes of society values such as the perspective of money,power, greed and ethics. Such people have no view of what they really want but more of what the society thinks they should have. The sad thing is they often in self denial and may eventually lead their whole life even without realising it and leading a plastic lifestyle. I am neither judging nor mocking them as seriously I could even fall into this category without even realising it which is a SCARY thing. The reason I could come with such a definition because I am not stepped into the corporate world and I am viewing things with a clear mind and as a third party. Once a person is put into a devious, competitive and unethical environment, pragmatism sets in and it is a different ball game all over.

I was watching an interview of Warren Buffet on CNBC and the thing i took away was not how to make a million dollar ( I am complaining if i could..:p) but how comfortable he is with himself. Comfortable living in the same house all his life, driving the old lincoln ( he sold it just recently for charity) and not getting a chauffeur even though he can well afford a company of them and not the least flashy in any way.

As we mature along the years, we need to learn how to be comforable with ourselves and be ourselves and not what society thinks we should be. As the year comes to an end, I wish and hope i could embrace 2 virtures which I think are essential as I graduate and work:

(1) Down to earth
(2) Contended

Some update of my FYP, manage to complete one experimental site and need to press on to complete the second experimental site this week. Basically, I need to get 36 samples from a experimental site which could last about 3 hours if fast and bring these samples to the lab the next day at NIE to cultivate the respective bacteria n fungi. Subsequent days would be spend at the lab analyzing the data and taking photos of my "cute friends". I am sure to fall sick one of these days being constantly exposed to these bacteria.

Tired alr.......another week ahead.....need to press on to finish my experiment..JIAYOU !!!

Michelangelos at holland V. is a must try ( abit pricey though) it is not like those fine dinning style where the plate is huge but the quantity of food is like smaller than a palm's size. For the past few weeks or i guess months, elitism has been a hot topic or maybe a taboo topic of the past which recently surfaced. I was reading today's straits times ( 9 dec, 2006) and there was an article which was discussing about this issue and I think the journalist covered a substantial breadth with regards to this topic. I will not discuss the content here due to laziness but one thing struck me was...so what now for the average joe like you and me? How are we going to be competitive in the next 10-20-30 years and provide a comfortable lifestyle for our family? Actually this thought has been dangling around my mind for the past 6 months when I came back from US and especially so before my exams when I was busy sending out resumes. I had several conversations with my Dad about this too and more recently after he came back from Europe and his take back from the trip.

Globalisation is inevitable in this era and I feel our country is going in the right direction of making our country attractive for foreign talents to embark onto our shore. In business school, i guess this is termed as leveraging. The difference between us and Europe is, our country has a controlled selective immigration policy. Europe on the other hand, by forming the European Union, open their doors to all immigrants which makes it free for all. This becomes a social problem when eg. an European country has to pay for the welfare of the poor immigrants at the expense of its own citizens. This invariably causes social discrimination in a country.

Competition is good. It compels us to do better. It is a postive driving force as some would say, a challenge. Personally, I don't see globalisation as a problem. I see us as the problem. We can never control the externalities but what we can control and decide is what are you going to do about it? In other words, ourselves. How are we going to make ourselves competitive?

To start off, to me at least, competitive does not mean making tons of money but being happy about doing something you are passionate about, making a comfortable living to your own standards amidst the harsh environment.

To remain competitive I think the following factors are important

(1) the desire to constantly learn new things

(2) innovative

(3) being creative

(4) never be contended with what you have and always aiming higher ( not in terms of monetary)

(5) Taking pride in your work no matter how insignificant they are

(6) Being intraprenuer

(7) Doing your honest best in whatever your do

(8) Resilience as hiccups are inevitable along the way

These are just some of the factors I constantly keep in mind and of course most importantly for me is to pray for His guidance for I am nothing without Him. Now and then I do fail at some aspect but I try to practise what I preach but it is no easy task. Life is never easy and it was never meant to be. Life as such is a struggle. Hence I feel no matter what you do, as long as you keep these in mind, things will work out pretty ok.

So really, I am not bothered about globalisation, elitism or whatever competition because I know that if i keep my "house" in a proper order, I will be able to overcome them. It is about being constantly aware of yourself, your surroundings and having the right mind set. I use the word constantly because we will change and surroundings will change. However values will never change and that is what will keep us in check.

Actually, I wanted to share another article which I was reading from the Financial Times about a lady who is currently working in the world bank who has two degrees, one in Art and the other in Finance. She was sharing how these two degrees complement each other. Interestingly, her motivation in getting two degrees at different times were motivated based on interest rather than future monetary returns or resume beautification which is so commonly heard nowadays which I personally find it disturbing. I guess Ill share it when I gather enough thoughts.

On the lighter note, below are the pics of the food I had this week. Lemon grass at siglap was not as good as the branch in orchard. The last two pics were the food which I had at thomson plaza called prosperous restaurant which I recommended at my previous entry.

It has been a long time since I spent some time on my blog....let me do a quick recap...had my last paper on 27th dec. which was like last monday. At the same time it was also my Dad's birthday ..so that explains for the foody pics below..hehe..Anway..so we had dinner at Lei Garden and the food was as usual...fantastic...great and one of the BEST cantonese cuisine in Singapore......The next day i had to be orientated for things to be done in the office for the next 2 weeks as my Dad n sis are away in Europe ( and still away....damn...URGH !!!)....The next few days ( even now) pretty busy running about Singapore doing deliveries and assisting my Mum in whatever I can ...by the time I reached home..i am so dead tired to start my Lit review for my FYP....I managed to FORCE myself to start doing it on friday....and I don't think I can make it for the dateline which was suppose to be due on 3rd of December...........so yeah..to all my friends whom I had to reject meeting up...really sorry.....I'll make up to you all, hopefully....I love to be busy...but I hate it when I can't make time for my friends or worst still my gf...oops..whom is pretty understanding from my exams till this period of time...:p.......

Anyway.....i actually found a chinese restaurant which serves reasonable ( crystal jade prices) prices and most importantly the food tastes not bad...it is a chinese restaurant in Thomson Plaza..next to the food court..you won't miss it...currently not many ppl dine there because it has been opened less than half a year i think......I did take some pictures of the food but currently not in my computer.will upload it at a later date bah......oh for the east side ppl....I have a authentic duck/wanton/chicken noodle to introduce....It is called Mei yuen restaurant...it is totally not a restaurant but a super super run down shophouse and has been around for a very long time....it is along east coast road...diagionally opposite church of the Holy Family, along the shophouses next to esso mobile...
I just had it after church with my Mum....ordered one roasted duck thigh, one roasted chicken thigh, one bowl of wanton soup and two plates of noodles...SUPER NICE....!!!
Damn it..all this mentioning of food really makes me bloody hungry ...time now is 3.21am and I need to get up by 8am.........URGH !!!!

Today went to check out this japanese restaurant at wheellock place - Sun with Moon. Damn chessy right the name!!! ......Food is pretty ok lar..... fancy presentation but food wise..nothing to shout about. The thing that caught my attention is the design of the sushi counter table. I would give 4/5 in terms of ergonomically....it has a wide counter table ( unlike those like sakae ...with a pathetic counter table width)...the chair is big, circular and rotatable ( unlike those small sq ones which are placed so near to each other)...the foot bar is placed just at the correct height to place your two feet on it. My suggetion is to go for their lunch as it is more worth it with their combo set per person like..14 bucks? and highly recommended to seat at their counter seats.....
Oh yah...on the way home i took away some cakes at cedele which is next to this restaurant.....for those chocolate lovers...a must try is their "chocolate truffle cake" !!! My fav.....yummy....

It is located at takashimaya ..same level as sanur indonesian restaurant...called "Angus Steakhouse"!!! It is my childhood restaraunt and I have been eating there for like...10 years !!!! All time favourite western food....anyway it is a japanese and western fusion kinda food.......Kinda of pricey though( like 50-60 bucks per person)....so it can only be an once a year affair...sob sob....

Just checked out Alex's blog who is in US now....makes me drool with envy only.....I miss the travelling days...... I seriously..hate ulcers ..especially..oral ulcers which occur at the tongue...can't eat...can't drink...urgh !!! and i feeling feverish because of the pain....i am basically...stuck at home for the weekend...rushing a stupid project which has a dateline..like TODAY....actually the project was suppose to ok...I am responsible for compiling but for SOME reason ( jeremy HOR !!!) ......i had to vomit blood as I did the compilation.....it basically took up my entire time..for the weekend till I had not choice but to skip the wakeboarding competiton...hai..Danny Harf was there and I am in my room..editing some darn project.....heard that...his slider tricks were awesome..i hope someone manage to video them in action...poor..Dallas...heard that she also had broken her thigh bone...eeewwwww..that got to hurt......oh well..don't think will be going to school later..need to nurse a ulcer...:p......and..besides...I have tons of work to do......
Oh....i tried a korean restaurant at mosque street ( there are two..the smaller one..on the left hand side if u drive ...since it is a one way st)......the seafood tofu soup is not bad....pretty similiar the one i had in Berkeley........the regular price is like 8 bucks per item...but of course there are some pricer ones too..............but for now...i doubt i can go on any eating spree..with this ulcer of mine......food pics will just have to wait....

Finally decided to spend some time on my blog after neglecting it for a period of time...pretty much a roller coaster week..but with more to come....!!! So anyway....I was suppose to meet up with my prof last week for my FYP proposal presentation...he email me like 1am and had to postpone it because he hurt his back..WTH !!! ..... kiv my fyp for awhile and move on to my ergonomics project...then after settling...(for the time being) I have another design project to work on....projects and projects and more projects....but i am quit ok with it..actually i am enjoying doing them...at least they are of my area of interest....

So... today started off ..BP talk at swissotel.....erm..some crap talk...at the end of the...day.....top grades and excellent ECA record....yawnz.....but one thing i like about the job ( by the way it is being a energy trader)...it offers many opportunities to travel !!!!.....*dream*...I doubt ill be going for any more recruitment talks........it seems to be a waste of time...in a way......

Night came and went to "the next wave" at NUS...some dance thingy...I must say I am proud of my frens....proud of alan whose dancing has improved and shaun choreographying one of the dance item.... oh yah..melvin's wondering lighting skills........looking at them at stage..i really miss performing on stage during the band days.....

Creamy butter crabs at melbourn coffeeshop ( ang mo kio...opp mayflower secondary school)..this and the XO bee hoon crabs claypot are their signature dishes...hmmm..first taste was heavenly...but....hmm..diminishing returns are that...anyway...had this and yam ring (below)..was like 50 over bucks !!!! i think damn ex...long beach better....got air con...got ppl serve you...and they do not charge peanuts,towels and tea !!!!

Black pepper crabs at Long Beach at IMM Jurong.....this was eaten like...one week ago when i received the rejection from Shell..haha....then I had a two hour lunch break on last friday and decided to engage in some food therapy with jeremy....and i actually felt better !!! anyway..i highly recommend this place....we had one 1.2kg black peppper crab and one plate of mee goreng.(below) ...yam paste and sour sop for dessert....bill came up to 55 bucks with 10% UOB discount..i think it is damn worth it...especially when the quality of food is comparable to Jumbo....long beach has just found a new fan....

3am.....Just came back from 212 coffee shop for a gathering before ryan's departure back to US.......feel kinda sad ...not sure why....( dun aaaawww me here ryan haha) anyway.....hope that after Ryan's departure ...our group can still meet up as often...I guess it will be the same few...haha....i guess as you grow older..it is hard to find real close friends who has been with you ups and down and seen you grown as person since secondary school.....you really will cherish the moments....just hope that some people will manage to see life in a bigger picture rather then just focusing on chasing the end of the rainbow and neglecting other aspects of life which are equally or even more important.......anyway off to zzzzzzzzz.....more projects discussion and assignment datelines piling up..........phew.....

Pretty busy with my projects,datelines and at the same time juggling with my small little pathetic hobby/business......everything seems to come at the wrong time..clients asking for samples at the busiest point of my life...urgh....worst of all...i did not attend my FYP's tutor lectures this week and feeling freaking guilty.....I keep hearing the word FYP haunting me everyday which makes me guilty when i don't spend time on it for the day....still waiting for the reply from Shell...ryan is leaving soon...wanna spend more time with the guys too....had to miss Alan's dance on Wednesday due to school work..........I thought year 4 suppose to be relax one???

Eh....lets start with Thursday...I went for an interview with Shell at Pulau Bukom for a business challenge thingy...anyway I was late for it !!! Wau lao...i was super sian man....basically i got the initial ferry terminal wrong and ended up at Suntec City ( once you hit west coast highway...there is no turning back man...i learn it through the hard way) when I am suppose to go to Pasir Panjang Ferry Terminal. My interview was at 2pm..so I had to take the 115pm ferry but I missed it so I had to take the next ferry which was at 215 and by the time I reached Shell was around 230pm...URGH..what a bad start ! Anyway, during the interview was asked the standard few questions...not so impressive grades blah blah blah..and the unique question was.." what do you think of a National Park?" ...Stunner man...."Name some National Parks in Singapore?".." What do you think is the difference between how the world views a national park and us Singaporean?".......Anyway I tried to answer them "intelligently"..and smoking Jurong bird park as one of the national parks ...haha.....

On the hindsight....whether i get in or not..does not really matter as the interviewing itself was already a learning process.......

Thursday night ....proceeded to meet up with Ryan n KS to watch "the smell of the rain" at the Arts house which was acted by my dear friend Alan....I have to admit luckily the show had his part or else it would be damn boring sia..haha....then off we went to east coast park for supper. I highly recommend the wantan mee ( view pics below). It does not really have the wantan mee taste ( check out Lavander hawker centre if wanna try authentic wantan mee..although the looks are not really appetizing) but however it has its own unique sauce and char siew.....The dessert store next to it also not bad...2 bucks and you have a sumptous bowl of soursop...

Moving on the next highlight was Saturday's morning breakfast at PS cafe.....eh...location is further in Demsey road...ambience is pretty English cottage style...floor to ceiling glass ...surroundings are filled with lustrous trees.....but too bad I am not really a western breakfast guy...I still prefer my morning Nasi lemak or prawn mee dry ...hehe.....however for the experience is pretty not bad......oh but the best thing I highly recommend is the hot coffee ...really good !!!.....in fact the best I have tasted in Singapore ...i am serious !!!

off to bed.......to gear up for my chalet later in the day......it is going to be a long long day ahead....

Today had dinner at Teacher's Union....this eatery ( Salt n pepper) serves affordable and delicious nonya food...the thing is..i forgot to take pics of the food but instead took the surroundings. Anyway, i would highly recommend the below mention dishes:

Anyway, finally manage to meet up with my FYP prof which was a nerve breaking session. He protray himself as a SUPER strict, highly demanding Prof which hold no punches if he feels something is wrong. In Hokkien terms, "sibei Guai Lan"...he even said how one of his previous FYP student fainted and had to be send to the clinic after being scolded by him...WAU ZAN.....however on the positive side, he is a pretty high profile Prof in terms of in the industry and holds several outside key positions ( chairman of Singapore Ergonomics Society ....etc) I guess it prepares me for the REAL world haha...Ill just take it that I have a demanding boss.....I already have a dateline 3 weeks later.... at least a 10 page proposal of my project and power pt presentation !!!
I can feel that it will be a damn interesting year ahead before I graduate......

Today, my Dad was trying to try out a black pepper crab receipe which actually turned out pretty good....haha....at least it was better than the previous time when it was more like steam crab with pepper thrown in it....:p

I on the other hand had the pleasure to cook the chilli crabs which you all can guess...turned out FABULOUS !!!! ..yah yah..self is no praise...but who cares...

3 cheers to my Dad who cooked the pepper crab !!! ...Although it lacks more pepper..otherwise it is BAGUS !!

My whole body is aching...have not wakeboard for like 7 months !!! Anyway, skip school today to join my buddies for a sun bathing cum swimming cum wakeboarding outing..... It was so fun !!! I admit it must be the company of friends......we basically berth the boat at the beach and slack the whole day after wakeboarding.......but unfortunately the boat had some problem when we decided to go back..and had to be towed back....Anyway my whole body is aching ....i fear for tomorrow when i wake up !!! what i need is a GOOD massage.......

Sian..just came back from hougang 212....had a minor accident..before i went to meet my buddies...I was filtering from a minor road to a major road...and an idiot uncle lorry driver hit me from behind urgh !!!! He still dare to say i was speeding when obviously he was speeding and could not brake in time when my front lorry braked....anyway...only the right tailgate reflector was cracked...TOYOTA RULES man !!! ... but the feeling still quite sianz...haiz.....so basically i was stoning at the kopitiam after the accident as mood already dampen.....

I am sure most of you had tried the branch at Amoy St but however i highly recommend another branch ( however they are shifting at the end of August because NUS wants the land back..so better try it b4 it is too late). ok..damn it man..i did not get my 1st choice for FYP...but got my second choice which is..."An Assessment of the Rationality of Current Practices in Public Cleaning Services and Utilities"...Objective.."To ascertain whether the rationale presumed in current practices in public cleaning services and utilities, is valid."......Seriously i don't know if it is a good thing or what...but..I DON"T really have much a choice..so i choose to stay positive about it !!!.......Past few days..been surrounded by people who are going through their convocation...which brings me to a point.....so whats next after convocation? I mean....The vibe I am going is.." like this lor"..waiting an hour just to receive the certificate? Hmm..sounds like a wet blanket but seriously .....I kind of drag my convo next year...I mean seriously I don't feel anything about the certificate..in fact the only thing which i am grateful are the overseas trips..which are kinda intangible benefits......I think I would feel really empty if I would graduate this year....like everything is so uncertain..it is like..."whats next.?" ...upgrade? worry about my next pay check? How much will be my starting pay? Is there a better job? Which industry should I go? Is a degree enough? Should I plan for my masters ? If so..which masters and where should I do it? haha.....I am grateful.......i still have a year more to go.....keeping these queries in mind and prepare myself....I want to be 2-3 steps ahead and not...reach the point and start asking myself.."whats next?" .........

Cabaret Show

Just came back from the music production "Cabaret" at the Esplanade. HMmm..actually to be fair ..it was pretty refreshing and something different....like how the whole story flow but the thing was ...the jokes were pretty cheezy at times..like how they could actually have an item of pineapple? The songs were soso.......I felt Fei xiang ( the main cast) could not singing very clearly...I actually had to look at the billboard ( which translated to chinese) to figure what he was singing.......Hmmm...I guess it lack the wow factor..and sorry to say..it did not move me a bit...Maybe I was so too tired after rushing straight from work.
And after the show...my family n I went to Newton Circus and goosh was i surprised that the place had already been renovated !!! The place is now more airy, cleaner , and more organised....manage to find my favourite "LIU DE HUA" prawn pork rib noodle....i think it is store 52?? It is managed by a pair of guys....the prawn pork rib noodle is REALLY GOOD !!! HIGHLY Recommended !!! haha..but we were pretty disappointed that the famous po piah has risen from 1.5 - 1.8 per roll !!!! That makes it the MOST expensive po piah in Singapore !!!! haha...but i must admit..it is also the best i had tasted so far ......
Anyway today is the final day of round 2 of my FYP selection and I still cannot make up my mind...actually i don't really have the time to give much thought to it....hmmm...currently considering the "indexing the male erectile dyfuntionality in the context of Asia" topic..haha..sounds so cool right !!! Prerequisite is ...Bio and human physiology? which is totally not related to what i am doing now...which means i need to put in like extra effort...but the perks are ... ill be able to work with professional doctors in TTSH and..the company Pfizer Inc. hmmm.....see how lar..I abit sian already........

Singapore weather is freaking HOT !!! just came back from Kallang drain...after rooting for Mr Boon at the wakeboarding competition...althought the crowd was lukewarm but i must admit the competitors really heat up the scene! Anyway the thing that I took away from today's event was not wakeboarding or some trick....I was pretty pissed with the 1st round of FYP selection but after meeting with toon there who told me to select a credible, highly exposure and great learning curve FYP really gave me some thoughts. I felt rather relieve that I have a second chance to choose again rather than pissed off of not getting it......I need to get my mind set straighten out....the initial FYPs which i selected i got to admit was a "guranteed" A after meeting with the Prof ( He said.."I will make the project a comfortable one for you " ) and also the topic was kind of my style (fitting a product developement in a business model)...but again...this is my last year....... I could not imagine myself really doing a engineering research paper..... but this time round..Ill be doing it !!! I am going to do something really crazy..something ppl will not imagine me doing...rather..I want to push myself to the limit..to see how far i can go....Honours ? well........I think..I have to view long term rather than short term....and how can i possibly miss this mindset?........I am going to relook into the projects again and really give it some thought. Anyway.....anyone has any idea how do i put the archives from previous posts up on my blog? they seem to disappear from my blog.........

The summer exchange is coming to an end with this week as the last week. Well ...just some pictures from the highly anticipated virgin baseball match I had been on Tuesday. The thing is..it was the first time i ever learnt abt the game..the first time i have seen a baseball game but i think it will be the last time.....it was SO BORING....The only time which was exciting was when Giants hit a home run!!! But i guess it was just for the experience.

Just came back from a 2 days and 1 night at Yosmetite National Park..it WAS FABULOUS !!! ANyway...it was good break..after the midterm paper from investment last week.....We took like 500 over photos..phew...anyway just posting some of it..some of it later..now rushing my Internatonal Business project..which is like due this Thursday..for presentation and we haven not started yet !!! haha...ANd I still have a baseball match to watch tomorrow..GIants ( SFO) against angels ( LA) ..haha...i hope we can still finish out slides in time.....

Damn it has been a long time since I had written something in my blog. I was like kinda reminded by my friend that my blog got a lot of pictures but no words one..haha..
Anyway just an update.....This coming thursday 15/06/2006 is my midterm for investments !!! urgh...I mean I totally enjoy the lessons at berkeley but i hate exams !!! I guess it is a universal feeling. Anyway after this coming mid term we will be heading down to golden gate bridge and spend a night at Yosemetite( I hope it is the correct spelling).....Phew how time passes so fast.....3 weeks have passed........
Mixed feelings about US...totally different if I were to compare the time I was in Beijing...I guess to each its own....But one thing for sure..I totally miss asian food ....urgh !!! I am like having burgers,fries,pasta,mexican food..for every meal with tomato sauce, mustard , mayonise...and guess what...my canteen only have 2 types of fruits...green/red apple and banana and OCCAsionly the appearance of oranges!!! Each time i get the chance to eat chinese food is like being on cloud 9 !!! It is at times like this you cherish homecook food....hehe

The food at this "modern chinese " restaurant located at downtown Berkeley is really good. !!! We had soup,large plate of appetizers and 3 main dishes for 15usd/pax....around there...

Having my lunch at campus the al fresco style....althought i would prefer eating asian food for lunch but not really choice althought they have a lot of cafes but most of serve the same food which are sandwiches customised maybe 10 different ways but to me..they are all the same.
The rest of the food below are either thai or korean....yummy ..the bbq korean food and kimchi soup or spicy beef broth is damn good here !!!

Had my first dinner at Blondie's ( A pizza joint ) upon my arrival at Berkeley on Sunday . The size was huge but the pizza was good !!! one slice cost about 2plus USD which was pretty ok. Anyway it was one of the few eateries that open really late late at night.

Just came back from the premier of X men at Berkeley downtown..man it was way weird. I saw the movie at United Artist and the interesting thing was that there was no book of seats but first come first serve basis kind of arrangement. Anyway to cut the long story short..i feel asleep during the movie....damn..i not sure if the movie was boring or i was tired..anyway ever since i arrived in Berkeley, my sleeping hours has been like 9pm - 6/7am in the morning !! Can you believe it ?! !! Anyhow going to zzz now...got lots of stuff to update ever since i got my internet connection.........Off to lala land

Mother's day

Today had mother's day lunch with my relatives at our usual cantonese restaurant. It was nothing spectacular since we have been eating for there the past ten years for almost every event. However the food is good but diminishing returns has played a part in my liking for it. Anyway, if anyone want to taste authentic cantonese food which has not gone through any renovation for the past 10 plus years, you all can try this restaurant called Mitzis Cantonese restaurant located at Murray Terrace. It is at tanjong pagar area opposite Maxwell Food centre.
Dishes Recommended : Yam Ring, Roasted chicken,seafood roll,sharkfin eggs and Salt pepper live prawns
